São Paulo Pavilion at Expo ’90
Two half-curves, formed by a slab 30 cm thick, compose the design of the pavilion of the city of São Paulo for the 1990 Osaka International Exposition. The curve, at times functioning as floor and at times as roof, defines two spaces: one open, for outdoor shows and exhibitions, and the other enclosed, for video screenings and indoor exhibitions.
After the exhibition concluded, the structure was among the few to be preserved. The structural design was developed by engineer Mário Franco and adapted to Japanese standards.
