In continuity with the actions of architect Ruy Ohtake in the Heliópolis neighborhood, we designed a group of public facilities that reinforce the idea of housing in its expanded dimension. Beyond the housing unit itself, we sought to enable access to spaces and everyday activities that take place “outside the home.” In other words, inhabiting the city.

In the site planning of the Heliópolis II Housing Complex (known as “Redondinhos”), an area of approximately 9,000 square meters was allocated for the future construction of public educational facilities. The development potential of the site and the demand generated by the verticalization of the neighborhood justify the proposal of three buildings: a daycare center (CEI, for children from 0 to 3 years old), a preschool (EMEI, for children from 4 to 5 years old), and an elementary school (EMEF, for children from 6 to 14 years old, which will also accommodate the Youth and Adult Education program – EJA), all operating on a full-time basis. This program, it is worth noting, was developed collectively and transversally, involving the local community, the Municipality of the City of São Paulo, and the Ohtake office.
