Maison de Mouette Building

1990
São Paulo
Brazil
Built area 1,600 m²
Site area 8,650 m²

The curves of the terraces vary from floor to floor, giving the building—with 8,500 m² of built area—the unusual movement of waves. Despite the resulting dynamism, the repetition of these components does not undermine the sense of unity and plastic cohesion of the construction. The guardrails that define the terraces are executed in reinforced concrete, using wooden formwork (10 cm wide slats set vertically).

The building has 21 floors, a reinforced concrete structure with columns distributed along the perimeter to facilitate the organization of internal spaces, and cast-in-place slabs. The foundations consist of precast piles, due to the load conditions and the characteristics of the site (reasonably compact soil). Near the staircase, there is a shaft containing the main building services.

The presence of this 20-story building is strong in the urban landscape.
